■ Pan Asian Week: Pan Asian Week will occur February 23-27, 2015. The purpose of Pan Asian Week is to educate and bring awareness of the rich cultures and identities within the Pan-Asian community. ■ Hip Hop Activism Conference: The Hip Hop Activism Conference will be held on February 21st, 2015 from 9am-6pm at Augsburg College 2nd Floor, Christensen Center Building, 2211 Riverside Ave. S., Minneapolis, Minn. ■ Work With Summer Reads VISTA: Summer Reads is an AmeriCorps VISTA program of the Minnesota Literacy Council that focuses on the decline of literacy skills in low-income children over the summer months, a phenomenon commonly referred to as the “summer slide.” Summer Reads VISTAs serve full-time for 8 weeks and are not allowed to have another job during their term of service. As VISTA members, they receive a bi-weekly living allowance, training and professional development, and are eligible for an end-of-service Education Award. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis through April 30, with priority given to applications received before March 31.

In addition to Summer Reads, the Literacy Council also has a year-long Literacy VISTA program that places and supports members throughout Minnesota to work behind the scenes and create or expand literacy-focused programs that bring low-income children and youth and their families out of poverty. They will begin accepting applications for this program in March.

■ Volunteer at Seward Montessori: Seward Montessori School needs volunteers for History Day on Tuesday, February 24. They need help judging history projects. ■ SteppingStone Theatre School Summer Camp Internship: SteppingStone Theatre School for Young Actors is now accepting resumes for Summer Camp Management Intern. The mission of SteppingStone Theatre is to develop the whole child by using educational theatre programs and fully-staged productions to build self-esteem, confidence, and a sense of community while celebrating diversity in a supportive atmosphere. Requirements: Minimum of two years of college required with a background in theatre and/or education, experience working in a summer camp setting, experience working with a variety of ages, reliable transportation is required and CPR and First Aid Certification or completion is preferred. ■ Cedar-Riverside Fellows Program: The Cedar-Riverside Fellows Program is a new, innovative partnership effort of Augsburg College, the Humphrey School of Public Affairs and the Cedar Riverside neighborhood aimed at building skills and experience while working on action-oriented projects in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood. A total of 6 graduate students (3 from Augsburg, 3 from Humphrey School) will be selected for this fellowship. ■ Submitting ACT Plus Writing or SAT Scores to Meet the Basic Skills Requirement: Beginning January 1, 2015, The Minnesota Board of Teaching will accept passing ACT Plus Writing and SAT scores to meet the statutory requirement for a skills exam in reading, writing and math (i.e., the MTLE basic Skills Test). Please speak with your education advisor to learn more about this option and whether you may qualify.

■ Design your own course for high school students! Century College Upward Bound seeks teachers, or soon to be teachers, to develop and teach courses for our college bound students this summer. ■ MAE Degree Documents Updated: The MAE Degree Completion Research Project Handbook has been updated for academic year 2014-15. Significant edits have been done to the Intent to Complete form, including FERPA language that is critical when students submit bound thesis. [Submission of Intent to Complete form is required prior to beginning degree completion courses.] Please make sure that you are working with the updated Handbook and using updated forms.
