George Floyd Memorial Scholarship Criteria

Augsburg University created the George Floyd Memorial Scholarship in order to support student leaders who show great promise in their ability to further interrupt and dismantle anti-Black racism, racism, white supremacy, and other forms of oppression.

Strong candidates for this scholarship will meet the following guidelines:

  • Rising third-year or fourth-year student
  • Making satisfactory academic progress toward graduation
  • Strong understanding of Black experiences and history in the United States
  • Experience leading and/or organizing programs, events, and projects that serve to create and advance a racially-just and equitable society.

Amount: $5,000* (five one-time scholarships are available, which are distributed 50% for each semester, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021)

*The combination of any Augsburg University gift aid, along with the federal Pell Grant and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant and the Minnesota State grant, cannot exceed the cost of Augsburg University tuition and direct fees. This means there is a possibility that a scholarship winner may not receive the full scholarship amount.
