"See the world through another’s eyes, and your world will never be the same." This saying, often quoted by Augsburg's Center for Global Education, is what International Education Week is all about. Officially, it's a joint project of the U.S. Department of State and Department of Education "to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States."

At Augsburg, International Education Week celebrates the many Auggies who have studied abroad and the international students who are living in the U.S. and/or come to Augsburg to study.

From Monday through Thursday in Christensen Center, study abroad information will be available, as well as a mini-exhibit and posters, "The Environmental Art of Anne Giangiulio."

Each day in Christensen Center, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., students will share their cultures through displays, information, and treats from around the world:

  • Monday - Europe
  • Tuesday - Africa
  • Wednesday - Asia
  • Thursday - the Americas

International Programs Photo Contest Reception
On Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., on second floor in Old Main, the International Programs Photo Contest reception will honor the winners of the Ninth Annual International Programs Photo Contest, judged by a panel of professional photographers. The winners will be announced at 4:30.

Voting is also open for a photo that will win the People's Choice Award. Go to www.augsburg.edu/augsburgabroad to view the slideshow and e-mail your vote. The deadline is Monday, Nov. 16.

International Education Week Variety Show
On Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m., in the Christensen Center Student Lounge, students will share their cultures through music and dance. This event is sponsored by the International Student Organization and ASAC.
