What are you most passionate about? Where can you learn more about an area of personal interest? When can you find the time to collaborate with colleagues on a project of common concern? How can you develop your gifts to impact your workplace?
The answers to these questions intersect under this year's new program "workculture@augsburg," which was designed to create and fund vocational opportunities for faculty and staff not otherwise funded through individual departments.
Initiated by President Frame and carried forward by President Pribbenow, the program is an outgrowth of Augsburg's commitment to the vocational development and to the "common work" of the entire college community.
This year, 23 opportunities have been funded, from Jim Trelstad-Porter's participation in Parker Palmer's "Courage to Teach" program, to a retreat bringing together Day Admissions and Ethnic Services to discuss how to better serve our students. The funded projects fall into four categories: professional/vocational development, communication collaboration, community events, and team teaching.
Throughout the summer, various examples of workculture@augsburg-funded projects will be featured on Inside Augsburg.
