Augsburg sponsors StepItUp2007 event

Augsburg College will sponsor a local StepItUp2007 event on Saturday, April 14 to celebrate the National Day of Climate Action. The event is one of over a thousand different StepItUp2007 events being held across the country to ask Congress to legislate an 80% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050.
Students, staff, and faculty will meet at Bohemian Flats Park (along the West River Road, underneath the Washington Ave. bridge, just a few blocks from campus) at 10 a.m. for a river clean up and photograph to send to local members of Congress.
At 11:30 a.m. participants will bike to the State Capitol for a Global Warming Day of Action, featuring music and speakers.
The event is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Augsburg College Environmental Stewardship Committee. For more information, contact Tim Dougherty at 612-330-1208 or doughert@augsburg.edu. For more information on StepItUp2007, visit www.stepitup2007.org.
