“Songs for a New World” opens January 26
“Songs for a New World,” the production by the all student-run organization music+theatre, opens January 26 in Sateren Auditorium.
With music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, "Songs for a New World" is a show celebrating life’s changes and transitions. The directors, cast, orchestra and crew are all students at Augsburg College.
This new student organization started up last year as a way to offer students more opportunities in musical theater.
This year there are about 10-15 members of music+theatre, which is open to all students. “The beauty of this group”, said Brian Halaas, co-director of this year’s production, “is that students who enjoy being in musical theater, but not majoring in theater, can still pursue their interest.”
Performances for “Song for a New World” are Jan. 26-28, at 7 p.m.. Tickets are free of charge and can be picked up the week of January 22 in Christensen Center from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. or at the door the evenings of the performances.
