World-renowned peace activist Cindy Sheehan fills chapel

Peace and social justice advocate Cindy Sheehan filled the Hoverston Chapel on Tuesday, January 30 at 11 a.m. This was her first speaking engagement in Minnesota.

Sheehan is founder of Gold Star Families for Peace, an organization of Americans who have had loved ones killed in wars. Sheehan’s own son Army Specialist Casey A. Sheehan was killed in action in Baghdad on April 4, 2004. Her message entitled "One Person Can Make a Difference" was part of the Augsburg Convocation Series "Many Voices Bold Visions."

The event included a poetry reading by St. Paul's first poet laureate, St. Paul resident Carol Connolly. Sheehan was introduced by Senator Becky Lourey.
