Minnesota Private College Week

June 20, 2007

MPCW

Prospective students and their families will fill the Augsburg campus June 25-29 during Minnesota Private College Week.

This free, weeklong introduction to the 17 colleges and universities of the Minnesota Private College Council encourages students to explore their college options.

Campus tours and general information sessions will be offered twice daily at each campus, from 9:30 - 11:45 a.m. and 2:00 - 4:15 p.m. This schedule allows for students and their families to visit two colleges per day or several during the week.

"The unique approach that Augsburg takes [with our session] is that we offer different stations that students and their families visit," says Marissa Machado, assistant director of Admissions. "We're hoping to make the whole week a little more fun for the students and their families by offering an interactive, creative format."

Student ambassadors will lead small groups around campus to learn about key areas:  admissions, fine arts/athletics, academics, the Augsburg Experience, and the First-Year Experience. Visitors will spend 15 minutes at each station hearing from faculty, staff, and/or current students on that respective topic.

The goal of the week is to give students just enough information to get started and decide which schools to revisit more thoroughly in the coming year. Students get a "passport" stamp after each session they attend. Four stamps can be redeemed for four application fee waivers.
