Humorist and Writer Speaks at Vocatio Chapel

Augsburg’s Vocatio Chapel Series continues with author and humorist Gary Legwold in Hoversten Chapel on Wednesday, March 14 at 10:20 a.m.
Legwold has written over 600 articles appearing in publications such as Better Homes and Gardens, Star Tribune, and Equire. He has also written five books on topics ranging from fitness and divorce to lefse and lutefisk. He also does business writing for companies including Medtronic, 3M, and Best Buy.
Legwold is the recipient of the Minnesota Page One Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for a feature he wrote about his daughter’s adoption.
Legwold says, “Writing is what I do, every day. I’m not a dabbler or a wannabe. Writing is not part of my job—it is my job. There is a line from a 1954 movie Beat the Devil (don’t bother to rent it) that says, ‘The only thing standing between you and a watery grave is your wits.’ I love that line because, as a writer, my wits and my words have kept me from getting wet.”
