Staff Spotlight: Kathy Peterson, Coffee Shop manager
Every Auggie coffee-lover knows the face of Kathy Peterson, the manager of the Coffee Shop. We see her every day as she so graciously gives us our morning fix, but who is really behind that smiling face? Inside Augsburg has made it their goal to find out.
Q. How long have you been working at the Coffee Shop? What do you like about it?
A. I have been employed at Augsburg for 8 years. I started out in the Catering Department. I loved it and got to know a lot of the staff and faculty. It's nice that I can still serve them, but just behind the counter.
Q. Do you like coffee? If so, what is your favorite drink?
A. Do I like coffee, no, I love coffee. I like the regular black coffee, the robust flavor and the nuttiest of the bean is great. Every once in awhile I'll have a latte or cappuccino.
Q. If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go and why?
A. If money wasn't an object I would like to go to Rome. It would fascinate me seeing and touring all the famous Christian history that's there.
Q. Do you have any pets?
A. No, but I've tried to have pets. The hair sheds and the furballs are a pain to clean up. I wouldn't mind a small dog later in life.
Q. If you were a character on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," who would you be?
A. I think the girl's name is Trudy. She is the youngest daughter in the show. She's got spunk.
Q. What is your favorite food?
A. My favorite food...that is hard and weird. That would be sushi and Bruegger's Bagels but not at the same time. I'm not afraid to try different things, but I don't eat beef or pork.
Q. What was your worst coffee experience?
A. I can't think of anything specific, it's embarrassing when people pick up the drink on the counter that’s not theirs. I personally have had hot coffee spilled on me which isn't pleasant.
Thank you for your time, Kathy. And thank you for getting us our coffee everyday.
