Joshua Harris grew up in a lower class neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. He had never been to Minnesota before learning about Augsburg from the basketball coach. He was looking to transfer schools and wanted somewhere small. Within two weeks of visiting campus early August of 2005, he was accepted and on his way to becoming an Auggie.

Harris joined Pan-Afrikan Student Union (PASU) and currently serves as Presider. “I’ve met a lot of people through PASU and gotten a lot of opportunities through it,” says Harris.  “It’s just up to students to use their resources.”

Harris, a communications major and film minor, is currently working on a documentary of the history of PASU. He also plays basketball and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., which was the first black Greek organization.

“I love Augsburg. The people are great and extremely easy to get to know,” says Harris. He is also appreciative for being a recipient of a scholarship through the M. Anita Gay Hawthorne Endowment Fund. “The Endowment Fund is small right now, but every bit helps when you’re going to Augsburg.”
