If you’ve got a green-thumb be sure to bring it along to the Community Garden Spring Resource Fair on Saturday, March 17 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Augsburg College Christensen Center.

There will be great local food for sale from local youth gardening groups (it's a fundraiser for them), as well as workshops on all things garden-related, ranging from raising your own chickens in the city to learning how to properly prune trees.

Tim Dougherty, who is in charge of the event, says “The organizer of the fair, GardenWorks, has become a close partner in helping us to get our community garden off the ground here at Augsburg. They were very excited that we wanted to start a garden here, and they've already begun to refer people to us who are interested in working with the garden. Once we established that partnership, they realized that Augsburg is a perfect central location for their annual garden fair.”

The 2005 James Beard Winner will speak about his work on authentic eating in schools, and there will be raffle prizes, music and food to top off the fun.

If you have any good tools that are going unused, please bring them to the fair for a gardener in need. And green-thumbs are not a prerequisite.
