An Afternoon at Augsburg with Al Franken

April 24, 2007

Al Franken

On Tuesday, April 24, former Air America Radio host, renowned satirist, author, and 2008 DFL Senate candidate Al Franken will visit Augsburg College. Franken will be on campus for an event that begins at 2:30 p.m. in the Hoversten Chapel, located in Foss Center to talk to students about his campaign and his views on key issues.

Franken, a Harvard Alumnus who spent his formative years as a resident of St. Louis Park, will focus his comments on topics such as the U.S. involvement in the Iraq War, the impact of policy development in our daily lives, politics and the media, and why it is becoming increasingly important that our youth understand policy and become more active in the political process.

Franken joins a series of speakers who have recently come to Augsburg College, including Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, and Daniel Ellsberg, former American military analyst who created a national uproar in 1971 when he released the Pentagon Papers.

“I’m thrilled to be coming to Augsburg, “ Franken said. “I think anyone who cares about the future of our country and wants to get it back on the right track will like what I have to say.”
