Arun Gandhi speaks on non-violence

Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, spoke to a crowd of over 200 on Friday, March 30 in the Hoversten Chapel on the Augsburg campus.

Before his talk, the crowd sang "Drops of Water" by Jim Strathdee, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and Mahatma Gandhi. A "Prayer of Nonviolence" was also read.

In his 40 minute speech, Ghandi spoke on how a peaceful world must begin with each individual, following the teachings of his grandfather made famous in the quotes: “Be the change you want to see in the world, ” and “Whenever you are confronted with an opponent, conquer him with love.”

A question and answer period followed.

Arun Ghandi is the founder of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence. He travels throughout the world speaking, teaching, and promoting the work of the Gandhi Institute which is dedicated to nonviolence worldwide.
