Augsburg men's soccer player Josh Linde a finalist on NBC Today show's "Today Throws a Wedding"

Josh LindeNEW YORK (8/9/06) -- Augsburg College student-athlete Josh Linde (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) and his fiance Carrie Hortsch are among seven couples who are finalists on the NBC Today show's "Today Throws a Wedding" competition.

Linde is a member of Augsburg's men's soccer team. He also competed on the Auggie track and field team last season. He transferred to Augsburg after attending the University of Minnesota. Linde and Hortsch have known each other since junior high and have been dating for four years.

The seven couples are competing in a seven-week elimination challenge to earn a complete wedding thrown by the NBC morning show on Oct. 6. Fans can vote on the Today website for their favorite couples, as they perform various tasks each week. The winners will be announced on Sept. 20. This is the seventh year that NBC's Today show has sponsored the wedding contest.

On Wednesday's (8/9) show, each of the couples sang a karaoke song while dressed in costume. Linde and Hortsch sang the song "You're The One That I Want" from the 1978 movie "Grease," dressed as the lead characters, Sandy and Danny. Linde and Hortsch won the competition, meaning that they were safe from elimination for the next round, which will be held next Wednesday (8/17).
