Twin Cities conference, Jan. 17 at Augsburg, to focus on neighborhood sustainability

The Twin Cities Neighborhood Sustainability Conference will be held Saturday, Jan. 17 from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Augsburg College. This year’s conference will launch several cycles of new action. As many as 350 people, including volunteers, block club leaders students, teachers, resource groups city staff and elected officials from Minneapolis and St. Paul are expected to attend this free event. They will explore how they can enhance the long-term environmental, economic and social vitality of their neighborhoods.

The day begins with an overview plenary session featuring Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak and St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly. The conference will then break into groups for small group discussions, which will include issues such as environmental justice, health disparities and building community capacity and wealth.
