"Real Kids Come in All Sizes: Building Body Esteem with the Kids in your Life"

Feb. 19, 2004

The Counseling and Health Promotion Department and the Augsburg Education Department invite students, faculty and staff to a workshop presented by author and psychotherapist, Kathy Kater on Tuesday, February 24th from 7-8:30 p.m. in the East Commons. This workshop is designed to teach adults how to help children develop healthy body images. Kathy focuses on exposing five cultural myths that encourage unhealthy body images and eating patterns and provides practical "antidotes" that you can use with the children in your life to help them resist these messages.

Kathy Kater is a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders and author of "Healthy Body Image: Teaching Kids to Eat and Love Their Bodies, Too" – a curriculum used in schools across the U.S. Her second book on this topic is due out this summer.
The program coincides with National Eating Disorders Awareness Week February 22 - 29. For more info on the program or other eating concerns, please call Counseling and Health Promotion at x1707. The program is open to the public.
