Aug. 20, 2004

Augsburg College has been named among the Nation's best colleges by two national collegiate ranking services in reports released this week.

Augsburg tied for 20th in U.S.News & World Report's Best Universities – Master's for the Midwest Region. This is a move up in the regional rankings from 24th last year. The category is divided into four tiers with 142 institutions considered for the ranking. Augsburg is ranked against schools such as Creighton, Drake, and Bradley Universities in the category. Institutions in this category provide a full range of undergraduate and master's programs.

The Princeton Review announced Augsburg College as one of the 170 colleges named Best in the Midwest. Colleges are rated based on student responses, recognition of the college by the media, other institutional leaders and educational organizations. The report stated that "our goal is simple; to identify some of the colleges and universities that we feel stand out within each region."

The study praised Augsburg's dedication towards diversity, pointing to its campus composed of students from 40 states, 40 countries, and a mix of races, ethnicities, religions and sexual orientation. The report goes on to state that "a liberal, friendly environment, Augsburg is home to students who are interested in many different things."
