Center for Global Education in Namibia celebrates 10th anniversary

Aug. 3, 2004

The Center for Global Education in Namibia celebrated its 10th anniversary on July 22. The Center is committed to education that helps citizens expand their worldview and deepen their understanding of international issues. As the gap between the rich and the poor continues to grow around the world and in our own society, the Center provides its programs as a means to narrow that gap. First hand knowledge of other cultures and people creates a broader global perspective, informs debate on foreign policy issues, and contributes to a more just and peaceful world.

The celebration was held at the Namibia Hotel and Tourism School in Windhoek. The program included a number of speeches, including "Educational Philosophy of Higher Education in Namibia" presented by Hon. Nahas Angula, minister of higher education, training and employment creation. Other speakers included Dr. William Frame, Augsburg College president, and Dr. Orv Gingerich, director of the CGE program.
