The 7th Annual M. Anita Gay Hawthorne Jazz and Poetry Bash, November 20
The 7th Annual M. Anita Gay Hawthorne Jazz and Poetry Bash, celebrating the life and vision of M. Anita Gay Hawthorne will be held Nov. 20, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Christensen Center lounge. The evening will feature a music performance by the Gene Adams Jazz Band and poetic expressions from community, alumni and current Augsburg students.
M. Anita Gay Hawthorne was a supporter and advocate for Pan-Afrikan issues. During her tenure at Augsburg College, she utilized the concept of Pan-Afrikanism to create a program unique to any college campus in the country. She was totally committed to the development of students and dedicated to the spoken word. The Pan Afrikan Center continues to be inspired by her love, spirit and legacy.
Donations will be accepted for the M. Anita Gay Hawthorne Endowed Fund. Please RSVP to Trena Bolden at (612) 330-1022 no later than Nov. 17.
