Celebrating and Promoting International Education and Exchange

Augsburg College will celebrate International Education Week: Celebrating and Promoting International Education and Exchange Nov. 17-21. This is a nation-wide initiative to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.

In observance of International Education Week, the Office of International Programs is promoting international education with the following schedule of activities:

Monday (17th)

 
10:20 a.m.- 10:40 a.m. Chapel: International Education in Namibia
-Gretchen Irvine, Betsey Norgard, and students
(Hoversten Chapel)
11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Latin America cultural display by international and study abroad students (Christensen Center)
3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Our Global Neighborhood – guided walking tour of Cedar Riverside with dinner at the Riverside Restaurant. Focus on getting to know Augsburg's East African neighbors
(Meet at front doors of the Christensen Center)
Tuesday (18th)  
11:20 a.m. - 11:40 a.m.
Interfaith Mini-Convocation (Hoversten Chapel)
11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Interfaith Discussion Forum (Hoversten Chapel)
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Europe cultural display by international and study abroad students (Christensen Center)
2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Our Global Neighborhood – guided walking tour of Cedar Riverside with dinner at the Riverside Restaurant. Focus on Center for Service, Work, and Learning connections with the community (Meet at front doors of the Christensen Center)
Wednesday (18th)  
11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Africa cultural display by international and study abroad students (Christensen Center)
3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. International Forum - a panel of faculty, staff, and students will discuss their views on a range of global issues. Sponsored by the International Student Organization (ISO) (East Commons in the Christensen Center)
Thursday (20th)  
11:20 a.m.- 11:40 a.m. Chapel: Orv Gingerich, Assoc. Dean, International Education
11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Asia Cultural display by international and study abroad students (Christensen Center)
3:30 p.m. - 5:3 0 p.m. Center for Global Education Reception and Silent Auction – in celebration of the "NSEE Program of the Year Award." Bid on unique items from Mexico, Central America, Cuba and southern Africa (Murphy Place lower level)
Friday (21st) Pick up your copy of the ECHO with a special section for International Education Week
