The Habbestad Ensemble to perform at Augsburg College
On February 21 at 8 p.m. in Sateren Auditorium, the Augsburg music program welcomes The Habbestad Ensemble for a special performance.
The Habbestad Ensemble was established in 1997 in response to an invitation to Nordic Fest in Decorah, Iowa, which became the beginning of series of concert tours that have taken the ensemble from New York to Seattle.
The ensemble performs samples of the rich music of Norway, presenting pieces straight out of the folk-music tradition. The program includes compositions by Edvard Grieg, Eivind Groven, Johan Halvorsen, Knut Nystedt, and a variety of other world-renowned composers. In addition, the ensemble includes in its performance Norweigan folk dances and sacred and secular Norwegian folk music.
