November is National Native American Heritage Month

Join in celebrating National Native American Heritage Month with a series of Brown Bag Lunches and special events that will be held throughout the month of November.

November 4: Larry Knudsen, president/general contractor of Two Buffalo, new homes, roofing, siding construction company, noon – 1 p.m., East Commons.

November 6: Ken Bellanger, owner of Northland Native Products in Ancient Trader’s Market, noon – 1 p.m., East Commons.

November 10: Georgette Bunker Christensen, director of the American Indian Family Services in St. Paul and Augsburg MSW alumna, will talk about her organization and the service it provides, noon – 1 p.m., East Commons.

November 19: The American Indian Neighborhood Development Corporation representative will talk about the work they’ve done to help renovate Franklin Ave., noon – 1 p.m., Cedar room.

November 20: Yvonne Barrett: director of Ain Dah Yung (Our House) shelter for American Indian youth in St. Paul. Barrett, an Augsburg BSW and MSW alumna, will talk about the services the shelter provides, noon – 1 p.m., East Commons.

November 24: Noya Landa: director of the Division of Indian Work, Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches. Woodrich will talk about domestic abuse and what her organization is doing to address this issue, noon – 1 p.m., East Commons.

 

Special presentations:

November 11: 2 p.m. Mixed Blood Theatre’s “According to Coyote,” Sateren Auditorium.

November 14: Eric Buffalohead’s band “bluedog” will perform from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the East Commons, Christensen Center.

November 20: Storytelling Event - Cochise Anderson, storyteller, flautist, drummer, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Sateren Auditorium.
