They were "recognized as innovators, champions and sustainers who together themselves have led more than 315 students on cross-cultural learning groups. With their dreams, their passions for cross-cultural learning, and their willingness to put their hands to the plow, EMU has become known for a wonderful and successful program of cross-cultural experiential learning that has transformed individuals and institutions through crossing cultures."

The certificate of recognition was presented by Dr. Marie Morris, undergraduate academic dean. In addition, Gingerich was the speaker in chapel, which was a kickoff worship celebration.
