Prince Cedza Dlamini to be keynote speaker

at the 11th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation

Dec. 20, 2002

Prince Cedza Dlamini, grandson of Nelson Mandela, will be the keynote speaker at the 11th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation.

The convocation will be Monday, Jan. 20, from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. in the Hoversten Chapel.

Born into the royal family of Swaziland, Prince Cedza grew up in Swaziland and as a child spent time in Boston where his parents attended college. He has lived in Johannesburg for the past six years, working tirelessly with non-profit organizations including the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and America Reads/South Africa Reads promoting educational initiatives in South Africa.

He recently returned to Boston to further his education in international relations. As a motivational speaker in the fight against bigotry, Prince Cedza travels around the world continuing his grandfather's legacy by promoting Mandela's philosophy of improving race relations in everyday life by practicing forgiveness and reconciliation. In doing so, Prince Cedza has dedicated himself to creating a better world in which all of us can live.

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation is Augsburg College's annual observation of the legacy of this great leader. The day is used as a call to action to address the on-going global issues of racism, injustice, poverty and oppression. The program will also include musical presentations.
