Art Exhibit Textiles from the Silk Road

WHAT: Textiles from the Silk Road
Textiles from the Silk Road, will feature 18th to 20th century Central Asian secular and ritual textiles.
Experience the heirs to the ancient textile arts of Central Asia. Of special interest are elaborate silk embroidered suzanis, a tent door surround, complete sets of male and female costumes, camel and horse trappings, and one of the largest dagger sheath collections in the world.
These textiles allow us a glimpse into the lives of the men, women, and children who live, work, and worship in the hostile environment along the silk road. These textiles are used to enliven their environments and give expression to their beliefs.
