Augsburg College was named one of the "Best 201 Colleges for the Real World." The guide titled "Get In, Get Out, Get a Job," evaluates 201 colleges across the United States based on convenience, quality and cost.

Colleges featured in this book are those that "respond to current student demand," and "have changed in an attempt to deliver what students want and have programs that are within reach, programs to match needs and be completed in a reasonable time frame." The colleges profiled in this book are institutes that "take to heart the needs of the student as a consumer and are a great fit for the student with above average ambition."

Another important factor in selection was the proximity of the college to a major city, which can provide more opportunities, such as internships, job placement and volunteer work. Being close to a major city can also provide the opportunity to bring working professionals into the classroom as adjunct professors, mentors or guests.

Rick Smith, Augsburg College Vice President for Admissions and Enrollment Services, said "This is wonderful affirmation of what we've long known about an Augsburg education. It is truly a value-added education. Augsburg students gain the kind of thorough, rigorous education in the liberal arts found at many private colleges. But, also, because of our location in the city and our extensive commitment to being of service to groups and individuals in the city as our students learn in daily classroom assignments, our students gain invaluable 'real-world' skills, experiences and job preparation as well. It's the combination of both that makes Augsburg's education so unique and we're delighted that others around the country are now acknowledging that fact in these national rankings."

Augsburg College joins ranks with other institutions such as: Temple University and St. Joseph's University, Pennsylvania; College of Charleston, South Carolina; Siena College, New York; Seton Hall University, New Jersey; Marian College, Indiana; De Paul University, Illinois; Portland State University, Oregon; and the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University, Ohio.
