The 21st Annual Augsburg College Advent Vespers

Augsburg College will present the 21st annual festival worship services, Advent Vespers, on Friday, December 1 at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Saturday, December 2 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. All services will be at Central Lutheran Church in downtown Minneapolis, located at 333 South Twelfth Street.

Advent Vespers, one of the Midwest¹s largest musical programs celebrates the beginning of the Christmas season with traditional and contemporary hymns, anthems, and carols arranged for choral groups, soloists, and orchestra. More than 300 participants share the spirit of Christmas through powerful liturgy and stirring music.

Admission to Advent Vespers is by seating envelopes, which must be ordered in advance from the Augsburg College Music Department. To request seating envelopes and for further information call (612) 330-1265 or e-mail music@augsburg.edu.

Begin the Christmas season by joining the Augsburg Associates and Augsburg College for Velkommen Jul, an open house with Scandinavian treats, gift items, and traditional music and costumes, Friday, December 1, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Christensen Center, Augsburg College, Riverside Ave. and 22nd Ave. S.

Velkommen Jul will feature Minnesota performers whose program focuses specifically on the music and dances associated with the Hardanger fiddle, which is used for old time and village dances from the region of Telemark, Norway. They will entertain with fiddle performances, Norwegian-style singing, story telling, dancing, and audience participation. For more information on this Scandinavian festival call (612) 330-1171.
