Butch Thompson Performs at Augsburg College

West Bank School of Music celebrates 30 year anniversary

One of Minneapolis' longest-lived community arts organizations, the West Bank School of Music, is organizing a 30th anniversary celebration. This event will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2000 at Augsburg College's Foss Center at 22nd Ave. So. and Riverside Ave.

The celebration begins at 7 p.m. with a silent auction of several arts and music related items, and a reunion for former students and faculty members from the past thirty years. The benefit concert, which begins at 8 p.m., is headlined by world-renowned ragtime and classic jazz pianist, Butch Thompson, who was a member of the teaching faculty at WBSM for nearly ten years. Thompson is a regular on Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion Show on National Public Radio.

Other former and current faculty members will also be performing, showcasing a variety of jazz, folk, bluegrass and even classical music. Included on stage will be Eddie Berger, Clint Hoover, Dale Dahlquist, Jim Price, Bill Hinkley, Tom Pletscher and many more..
