Augsburg Names Barbara Nagle Director of Public Relations and Communication

Augsburg College president William V. Frame announced that Barbara Nagle has been hired as Augsburg's new director of public relations and communication. Nagle, who has been director of communications at Minnesota Technology, Inc. in Minneapolis since 1995, will begin her duties at Augsburg on May 11.

Nagle was the director of public relations at the United Way of Minneapolis Area from 1985 to 1995. She worked in corporate communications for Republic Steel Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1967 to 1979. Nagle's responsibilities at Augsburg will involve overseeing all aspects of the College's public relations efforts, to include advertising, marketing, media relations, publications, sports information and the College's Web site.

At Minnesota Technology, Inc., Nagle has been responsible for developing and managing statewide marketing and communications efforts that are intended to position and promote services and products that assist Minnesota's small and medium-sized manufacturing and technology businesses in becoming more competitive.

Nagle has been involved in a variety of community service activities and has served on the board of directors for the Minnesota chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and Friends of the Basilica. She was a member of the public relations committee for Super Bowl XXVI, which was played in Minneapolis in 1992.

Nagle graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, in 1967 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Augsburg is a private college of the liberal arts and sciences and is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Nearly 3,000 students are enrolled at the College in undergraduate day college, Weekend College and graduate programs.
