City Council Member Brian Herron to Keynote Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Augsburg

Brian Herron, Minneapolis City Council member from the Eighth Ward, will deliver an address on Monday, Jan. 20 at an Augsburg College tribute celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr. This year's theme is "Help Somebody - Everyone Can Make a Difference!"

The special convocation celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day--held annually at Augsburg--will begin at 1 p.m. in Hoversten Chapel of Augsburg's Foss Center, located on the corner of Riverside and 22nd Avenues South. It is free and open to the public.

In addition to Herron's address, there will be performances by musical guests, including the local gospel group Martin's Music Makers; Willete Whitted; Lavorial Salone; and the Augsburg Jazz Band and singers. Poetry will be read by members of Augsburg's Pan-Afrikan Student Union, which is sponsoring the convocation.
