Tuesdays (in Foss): 9-11am, 1-3pm
Wednesdays (in Foss): 4-6pm
Thursdays (in Foss): 1:30-3:30pm

The Augsburg University food shelf, Campus Cupboard, provides free food to students throughout the year. Campus Cupboard is located in Hoversten Chapel of Foss Center by the back stairwell to the balcony. It operates at least three days a week each semester and is staffed by students in collaboration with the Campus Kitchen program at Augsburg.
Using the Food Shelf
If you are an Augsburg student who would like to use the food shelf, stop by during open hours. If you are not free during open hours, email Natalie at firstname.lastname@example.org, and she can let you into the Cupboard at other times. Students may pick out five food items each visit. An Augsburg student ID is required. (Names will not be recorded, only ID numbers.)
Donations of non-perishable food items are accepted in collection bins at Einstein’s (in Christensen) and the Campus Ministry/Theater Office (in Foss).
Favorite foods for students include: peanut butter, jelly, rice, pasta, oatmeal, cereal, granola bars/healthy snacks, crackers, nuts, canned vegetables, canned/dried fruits, canned meats (fish, chicken, salmon), beans, and soup.
New toiletry items are also accepted.
The Campus Cupboard, which opened in February 2013, is the work of partnership between faculty, staff, and students who originally came together as part of the Fighting Poverty at Augsburg special interest group and the Creating an Inclusive Campus conference. The food shelf is supported by Campus Kitchen at Augsburg, A’viands, and the Thrivent Leadership Fellows. Learn more about the process of starting a food shelf in our guide for the Campus Kitchens Project!
Cooking at the Food Lab
Campus Kitchen hosts open cooking hours in the Food Lab (Hagfors 108)! The Food Lab is stocked with lots of cooking appliances available for student use. We have some ingredients available to share, and please bring your own as well. Spring 2019 open hours are: Wednesdays 3-6pm, Fridays 6-8:30pm, Sundays 11am-2pm.
Learning how to cook on a budget is simple but takes some time. Students from a Religion 200 class created a cookbook that utilizes some of the items that you can often find inside the food shelf.
