■  Apply for an EAST Scholarship: The Augsburg University EAST African Student to Teacher (EAST) Scholarship Program will be accepting applications for the Spring 2019-2021 cohort! This scholarship was established to recognize highly qualified students who wish to become K-12 teachers and increase the diversity of the teacher workforce in Minnesota. EAST covers full tuition cost toward a first license to East African descent students.*

■  United States Academic Decathlon: In April 2019, Minnesota will host the United States Academic Decathlon national competition. More than 70 teams from across the United States, China and the United Kingdom will attend the national competition in Bloomington, MN April 25–27.

In Academic Decathlon, students participate in 10 events: economics, mathematics, science, social science, literature, art, music, essay, speech and interview. There is also a compilation event called Super Quiz that combines all areas into a quiz show style format.

USAD is seeking volunteers to serve as judges for speech or interview as well as proctors for written exams and the Super Quiz. Without volunteer judges and proctors, this event would not be possible. Please consider sharing this information with your colleagues and education students to join us at this exciting competition!
