Congratulations to Alicia Quella

On May 14 the American Academy of PAs (AAPA), will honor Alicia Quella, PhD, MPAS, PA-C, with its AAPA Publishing Award at AAPA Conference 2016 in San Antonio. The award honors a PA (physician assistant) who has published a new clinical or research article expressing original or scientifically rigorous ideas.

Alicia is associate professor and program director of Augsburg's PA program. She is the lead author of the study, "PA Wages and Employment 2000-2025."

Published in the Journal of the American Academy of PAs, this study assesses PA wages, makes comparisons with other healthcare professionals and projects PA earnings to 2025. Alicia's analysis highlights the growth of the PA profession and found its future promising in terms of employment and wages, with PA wage increases projected to consistently exceed inflation rates for more than a decade.

Alicia noted, "Individuals who are interested in a career as a PA should be encouraged by these findings and those currently in the profession should be reassured that their earnings in the field are not likely to subside. I’m humbled and thrilled to be recognized by my PA colleagues for this work."

The AAPA Publishing Award is one of three 2016 AAPA Awards recognizing members who have demonstrated distinguished service to patients, the community and the profession. Other awards are the AAPA Military Service and AAPA/PAEA Preceptor of the Year.

The AAPA is the national organization that advocates for all PAs, and provides tools to improve PA practice and patient care.

Congratulations, Alicia!
