Teaching and Learning

URGO Summer Research Application Now Available

The 2016 URGO Summer Research information packet and application materials are now available at the URGO website (www.augsburg.edu/urgo)! Students can apply to conduct 100, 200, or 400 hours of paid research over the summer under the mentorship of a faculty member.

Phase 1 of the application will be due February 2nd. Phase 2, which includes a detailed description of the proposed research, will be due February 23rd.

Sample research proposals can be found on URGO's public folder, and you can check out videos of previous student projects at www.augsburg.edu/urgo/research/videos/

Concerned About Student Well-Being? January 7

Workshop: Integrating Health and Wellness Across the Curriculum

Featuring Katherine Lust,Director of Research, Boynten Health Service, U of MN

This workshop will introduce data on Augsburg students' mental health, share current policies and best practices for supporting students, and - importantly -- focus on ideas for developing course content to teach the many dimensions of well-being. Your colleagues will share examples of how they incorporate wellness into Music, Social Work, Physical Education, History and other courses.

Sponsored by an AACU "Bringing Theory to Practice" Well-Being Grant, this seminar is designed to advance our work on Student Learning Outcome #4: As Thoughtful Stewards … students are learning to identify the broad foundations for sustainable living and apply them in demonstrable ways (Health and Wellness / Sustainability).

Fall Term in the WL: Over 1,000 Sessions

Thanks to the wonderful tutors in the Writing Lab who conducted over 1,000 sessions during fall semester. They deserve a break -- until the Lab reopens on Tuesday, January 19. The marvelous tutors are Brid Henry (student supervisor), Mary Cornelius, Sam Foy, Mike Torreson, Cam Olson, Eve Taft, Ginny Contreras, Evan Peterson, Matt Peckham, and Mitch Ross. Well done, tutors!

Today: Learn About Biomedical Ethics Opportunity

Today at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Room, Jessica Hirsch, the Biomedical Education Coordinator at Mayo Clinic, will be giving an information session about Mayo's summer biomedical ethics research program. This program is open to all majors. Vision Bagonza, who completed the program in 2015, will also speak.

CLASS Office Final Exam Week Thank You

A huge CLASS Office Thank You goes to the staff and faculty who helped make Final Exam Week in the CLASS Office a huge success. By the end of the day on Thursday, we will have proctored 165 exams in four days.

Food Service Hours

Einstein's is open from 7:30am-1:30pm

Nabo is open from 7:30am-8:00pm.

The Commons is open from 7:30am-7:00pm.

On Friday December 18th all Food Service Locations will be closing at 1:30pm. Over break Einstein's will be open Monday-Friday from 7:30am-1:30pm with a condensed menu. Einstein's will be closed on December 25th and January 1st. Nabo and the Commons will be closed from December 19th through January 10th. The Commons will reopen for Dinner on January 10th.
