Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Crime Advisory: Motor Vehicle Theft – Aug. 9, 2014

DPS received a report that a student's vehicle was stolen from Lot G (the faculty/staff lot near 21st Ave. S. and 6th St. S.) The student had parked at approximately 9:00 p.m. on August 8, 2014 and found the car missing at approximately 7:15 a.m. on August 9, 2014. The vehicle was found in Minneapolis and recovered by the police.

No suspect information is available at this time.

Parking Permit Pickup- Fac/Staff & Evening/Weekend

Parking sales have successfully opened for the 2014-2015 school year!

There has been a delay in the arrival of the permits, so no permits are available for pick up at this time. Please keep an eye on A-mail, and we will announce when permits are available for pick up.

Requesting Keys & Fobs

As new faculty and staff are coming to campus, here are a few reminders for requesting keys & fobs:

- Key requests can only come from the authorized personnel from each department. Please see this link for the list of authorized personnel: http://web.augsburg.edu/dps/KeyAuthorizationList8.14.pdf. If you have any concerns about or updates you'd like made to that list, please email publicsafety@augsburg.edu

- Key requests: 1 person, 1 key, 1 form. Multiple keys being requested for the same person OR the same key being requested for multiple people must each have their own request form

- Fob requests: Multiple access' or personnel can be included in one request form (3 new faculty need fac/staff clearance for Old Main; new staff needs x clearance, y clearance and x clearance). You can also email a spreadsheet (include names, ID numbers, clearance(s) requested) to fobaccess@support.augsburg.edu.

- Fob requests: General campus access fobs requests can be made by any Augsburg community member. Only access for areas that are not accessible to all Augsburg community members needs to come from the authorized personnel from the above list (Honors Suite, locker rooms, MBA office, Enrollment Center, residence halls, etc.).

- Fobs & keys: All keys & fobs must be picked up from the person who will use them. In order to pick up any key or fob you must present a valid photo ID (Augsburg or otherwise) and provide your signature.

Moodle Help for New Faculty

The E-Learning team extends a special welcome to all newly hired Augsburg faculty. We are available to help you develop your Moodle course as you prepare for the upcoming Fall Semester in a couple of ways:

-The Faculty Moodle Resource (FMR) site <http://moodle.augsburg.edu/moodle2014/course/view.php?id=2410> is a repository of "how-to" tip sheets and videos that provide step-by-step instructions for leveraging Moodle tools when designing a hybrid course OR enhancing face-to-face instruction.

-The Academic LFC's <http://inside.augsburg.edu/it/get-help/faculty-and-staff-support-lfcs/> (Liaison's for Computing)--Eric Strom, Christy Mattingly, Nathan Lind--and E-Learning Specialist Bonnie Tensen are available to meet with you to provide suggestions and individual instruction. -suggesting and arranging for speakers to come to campus and/or to visit in the community

LAPS: The Future of Higher Education?

Hands-On Agresso Training

Soon new chairs and budget managers will prepare themselves for the start of the Fall academic year.

Administrative Accounting and Finance will host two hands-on Agresso training workshops. We'll discuss how coding deposits and expenses affect budget and actual variances to budget/forecast, in addition to, the Agresso web tool.

The following two training sessions will be in the Sverdrup 201 computer lab:
1. Monday, August 25, 10 a.m.- noon
2. Thursday, August 28, 2-4 p.m..

New CLASS Office Director

Kathy McGillivray joined the Augsburg College community in late June as the Director of the CLASS Office. Kathy has nearly 20 years of experience working with college students, helping them plan and arrange accommodations that support their learning. Most recently, Kathy served as Director of Disability Resources at Hamline University.

In addition to her work with college students, Kathy has been very active, both at the state and national level, of the Association for Higher Education and Disability, where she has been a presenter and a member of the Board of Directors.

We are delighted to have Kathy, and the expertise she brings, at Augsburg. I hope you will feel free to stop by and welcome Kathy at her office in the Gage Center.

General Announcements

New Director of Public Safety/Risk Management

Scott Brownell will join Augsburg as the new Director of Public Safety and Risk Management. Scott's first day will be Wed., Aug. 27.

Scott's prior experiences include work as Manager of the Office of Security and Emergency Management, St. Paul Public Schools and also with South Washington Schools. Scott was a Prescott Police Officer and served as Chief of Police in Prescott for three years.

Volunteer with Campus Kitchen

Campus Kitchen is looking for volunteers for the rest of the summer!

Package and deliver meals to seniors Thursdays 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Serve a meal at Ebenezer Tower senior apartments Friday the 22nd 5:30-7:30 p.m. (every Friday starting in September)
Cook food to be served in the community Monday evenings 7-9 p.m.

Solid Oak Dining Table With 8 Chairs + 2 Leaves

Beautiful solid oak table with two extension leaves and eight upholstered chairs, two of which are arm chairs. One of the chairs has some chewing from a puppy on the bottom of one leg and the upholstery shows its age, but otherwise in very good condition. I am asking $250.

Job Opportunity for Students

Hi my name is Frankie, and I will be a student at Augsburg in the fall. I'm looking for students who want to make some money and gain job experience. I use a wheelchair and require assistance with daily living tasks. I'm looking to hire some personal care attendants (PCAs). The pay is $12.73 an hour. I have already filled some positions so I'm looking for somebody who could work Mondays 5PM to 11PM, and Wednesdays 12PM to 5PM.
