Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

New Public Safety Escort Hours

Beginning June 21, driving escorts will be available between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. This is a change from the Spring hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. This change is in line with the updated "Dusk Until Dawn" escort policy.

Walking escorts between on-campus locations are available at all times. Driving escorts that are for medical services (emergency room, appointments at Smileys Clinic, etc.) are available 24 hours a day.

Green Line Light Rail Stop

Public Safety escorts are available to and from the new Green Line West Bank Station. The pickup/drop off point is located on 3rd Street So. when you turn right off of Cedar Ave, next to Mayday Books.

Overview

At AAC&U's 2013 Global Learning in College meeting, more than 500 participants laid the foundations for a vibrant community of practice sharing insights, opportunities, and challenges. At the 2014 Global Learning in College meeting, participants will continue to articulate a vision of the global learner and will explore efforts to design educational experiences—across the curriculum and in the community—to help students develop the cross-cutting capacities they need. Domains to be addressed include global knowledge, global challenges, global systems and organizations, global civic engagement, and global identities.

Thanks to Jacqui deVries and Regina McGoff for representing Augsburg on the AAC&U Global Learning Conference Planning Committee.

Augsburg will be prominently featured through:
+ Local Immersion in the East African community (Hosted by CGE and Sabo Center)
+ Augsburg students featured in Plenary: Students' Stories: Influential Experiences and Turning Points in Global Learning
+ Concurrent Sessions (TBA)

Papers Due? Check out the Writing Lab This Summer

The Writing Lab is open for summer term students on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:30-7 p.m. You can find the lab in Lindell Library, street level, left of the circulation desk. Tutors can help students with writing assignments for any class and at any stage of the writing process.

Public Transportation Schedules Available in Christensen Center

New and updated Metro Transit bus and Light Rail schedules are now available in the Christensen Center (in the hallway located near the west entrance door). With the addition of the new Green Line (which began service on June 14th) for the Light Rail transportation there have been a few changes in bus route numbers, etc. Please see the display located in Christensen Center to obtain a schedule and for more information on Metro Transit.

Event Announcements

Join Us: Worship in the Chapel Today at 11 a.m

The Religion Department, the Christensen Center for Vocation, and Campus Ministry have been hosting a group of high school youth on campus all week for Augsburg College Youth Theology Institute (ACYTI). The group has been exploring the intersection of technology and Christian community, especially: How does technology enhance and hinder the formation and sustaining of Christian community?

Please join us for closing worship this Friday morning, 6/20, at 11 a.m. in Hoversten Chapel, Foss Center. We will gather for worship and to give this great group of ACYTI students a warm, Augsburg community send-off!

Open House: New Sisterhood Locaiton

Sisterhood of the Traveling Scarf is now open across the street from Augsburg at 22nd and Riverside. The new store will be hosting an Open House on Wednesday, June 25th from 4:30pm-7:30pm. Drop by and see all the great gently used clothing for women.

Also, women's clothing (and shoes, jewelry, scarves) donations are much needed. Bags can be dropped off at the store or on the Sabo Center porch at 624-21st Avenue South.
