Choosing New Campus-wide Lighting Fixtures
Facilities Management wants your opinion on new lighting fixtures, which will eventually be used throughout campus. Two styles are currently on display on the Riverside side of Foss. Try to see them in the daylight and at night, so you can judge their look as well as their light. Send your opinion to Kristin Hansen at hansenk1@augsburg.edu by the end of Wednesday, March 26. The lights must leave soon, so take a look now and let us know what you think!

Would you like tips on writing more effective emails? Do you feel like your email inbox is out of control? Join Kristen Chamberlain from the Communication Studies department, and Franz Santander from the IT department, as they lead you through a session on writing and managing email effectively. Information will focus on the ways email communication is different from the spoken word (and even other written forms) and on Gmail-specific information for managing your Augsburg email.

Alumna and Staff Rep TRIO in D.C. This Week
Congratulations to Mai Yer Vang '11 who is one of two Minnesota TRIO program alumni selected to attend the annual Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) Policy Seminar in Washington, D.C., March 23 - 25, 2014. Mai Yer, along with Kevin Cheatham ('07 MAL and Augsburg TRIO/Student Support Services assistant director) will join other TRIO educators and alumni from across the nation to meet with legislators on Capitol Hill to discuss the importance of and request additional funding for TRIO. Augsburg College is home to two TRIO programs: Student Support Services (www.augsburg.edu/triosss) and McNair Scholars (www.augsburg.edu/mcnair).
Mai Yer majored in Sociology, and she is currently the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Minnesota Urban Debate League (MNUDL) through the City of St. Paul AmeriCorps VISTA program. MNUDL is housed here at the College.

Travelers EDGE Scholarship Applications Due on Wed.
The Travelers EDGE program at Augsburg has provided professional development opportunities and scholarships to several Augsburg upperclassmen over the course of the last 3 years and we are currently accepting applications.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Kemper Foundation, five students will be selected to complete paid summer internships at Travelers Insurance from May 19-June 20, 2014. Three of the five students will also be named Travelers EDGE scholars for the 2014-2015 academic year and will each receive a $10,000 scholarship.
Recipients must meet the following criteria:
- Graduate of a St. Paul or Minneapolis public high school.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- During the 2014-2015 academic year, must be enrolled as full time undergraduate with junior status in the Day Program at Augsburg.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 and in good standing with the College.
- Demonstrate financial need based on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid.)
- Applicants may have any major, but should demonstrate interest in exploring careers in the Insurance and Financial Services Industry (including business, economics, mathematics, computer science, and related fields).

Blood Drive Tabling Today
CCHP welcomes Memorial Blood Center to Augsburg on Monday 3/31/14 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the East Commons for its annual spring blood drive.
We will be tabling today in Christensen Center from 10:00 - 12:00 noon if you want to stop by and sign up for a donation time. You can also schedule an appointment online by going to www.mbc.org/searchdrives and enter sponsor code 0027 and there you will see what times are available.

All Auggies - Help Us Score a Week 5 win Over UST
We are now in week 5 of the Auggie vs. UST fitness challenge. The Tommies have held us at bay winning each week so far, but we are not out of the game yet. WE NEED YOUR HELP.
All registered participants of the challenge, log your minutes and do what you can to push yourself to exercise, walk, run, dance, swim, or cartwheel a little longer.
If you did not register - YOU CAN STILL PARTICIPATE. Just email Carol Enke with your name and the total number of minutes that you exercised for the week. Every minute counts, so track everything.
Mpls Campus Building Accessibility Audits
The Accessibility at Augsburg Committee invites campus community members to help with physical accessibility audits for five buildings on the Minneapolis campus.
There are two more building self-audits to go, Kennedy/Melby and Science. Both are this week. To sign up, please go to:

Come join us and congratulate Jack on being named a finalist for a Minnesota Book Award. This is a Graduate Information Session and is open to the public.

"Grand Entries," which are the start of a dance session are at 1 and 6 p.m. If you haven't been to a Powwow before we would encourage you to see a grand entry, however you are invited to come anytime throughout the day. There will be Craft Vendors, information vendors about community resources/organizations, concession stand with Indian tacos for sale and a lot of fun and opportunity to learn. Please join us.
At 3 p.m., Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community will be honored by Augsburg College for their gift to provide endowed student scholarships. Regent Bonnie Wallace will speak on behalf of the college. American Indian graduates from the class of 2014 will be honored.

In an effort to provide opportunities to staff, faculty and students to get involved with the greater community, we are bringing to campus several organizations. During the fair, find out what these organization do and consider supporting them through volunteer time.
