July 8 - August 8 Hours in the Writing Lab

Tutors in the Writing Lab will have a break next week and will resume work on July 8 and continue through SSII, ending on August 8. Because of a reduction in library hours, the WL schedule had to be adjusted slightly. These are the hours for July 8 - August 8:

July 8 - August 8: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. (NOTE THIS CHANGE).

The Lab is located on the street level of Lindell Library, just left of the circulation desk. Tutors are available to help any Augsburg student with any writing assignment.

Questions? Contact K. Swanson, English.

General Announcements

Beware of Toner Phoners

There are several unscrupulous businesses out there who attempt to sell you outrageously priced toner over the phone. We have already gotten a call from someone (mis)representing themselves as our new vendor – Marco. They may start by asking you what is the model or ID# of the copier near your desk. They may say they have extra stock of the toner you need or the price is due to increase. They may offer to ship you a toner on trial. Regardless of what they say, don't give them any information. All you need to know is that you get toner for your copier or printer by calling the Copy Center at extension 1054. You will never need to purchase toner for machines in your area. A quick way to ditch these toner phoners is to tell them you would like to transfer them to the person in the organization who purchases toner - they will hang up before you can transfer them!

Really Need Volunteers

Auggie colleagues, I am sorry to keep bothering you, but for some reason filling all the spots to volunteer at the Augsburg booth at the Minnesota State Fair is tough this year. Please look over the remaining open spaces and consider helping:

Sunday, August 25: 5-9 one person needed
Friday, August 30: 5-9 one person needed
Saturday, August 31: 1-5 TWO people needed
Sunday, Sept. 1: 5-9 TWO people needed
Monday, Sept. 2: 1-5 one person needed
Monday, Sept. 2: 5-9 TWO people needed

Volunteering at the Fair is great fun; we will provide you with training and a ticket to the fair! Please let me know if you can help: herron@augsburg.edu or ext 1525. Thank you very much!

Free Black Walnut Tree

Donald, our vigilant gardener who you may see in the community gardener every evening, found a black walnut tree growing out there that he would like to give a new home. Let me know if you would like to transplant it at your own home.

Needed: Mini-van for July 4-7

My small-scale camping vacation just went from 2 people to 5 (including a visiting Chinese and Japanese student) and I don’t have enough room in my Saab 9-5 wagon for five and all our gear. Do you have a mini-van I can borrow to take a trip to the North Shore this weekend? I’ll be traveling 500 miles (round trip) to Finland, MN for a DNR Loon Monitoring project. I borrow your vehicle and you take mine. Pickup Thursday morning and drop off Sunday evening. My car is air conditioned with room for four, in good condition. Call me at 612-330-1462 or email youngs@augsburg.edu
