Call for Spirit of MLK Award Nominations

The MLK Committee is seeking nominations for the 2013 MLK Award. Annually, we award two people who have demonstrated peace, love, humility, integrity and honor while working with others. We are looking for people who have demonstrated these abilities on or off campus.

Please give this careful consideration and take the time to nominate one faculty or staff member and/or one student that you believe should receive special recognition for following in the spirit of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Self nominations are also accepted.

Please provide:
• Specific examples of how this person has represented peace, love, humility, integrity and honor while working with others
• Your name and contact information and the full name of the person/people that you are nominating along with their contact information.

Please send nominations to moorek1@augsburg.edu by December 20.

December 28th Payroll Notification

TO ALL STAFF AND STUDENT WORKERS,

This year's holiday time falls on a payroll week. Knowing that everyone is busy during finals week, we want to make sure you are aware of how the week for the December 28th payroll will work.

There will NOT be a change in the submission deadline for the Kronos time card approvals. The deadline is still 2:00 pm on Monday December 24th for staff and students and 10:00 am on Tuesday December 25th for supervisor approval. To avoid the issue of approving time during the holidays, we are recommending that staff and students complete and approve their time card by the end of the day on Friday December 21st. If you work on Saturday, you should complete and approve your time card by the end of the day on Saturday. This will allow supervisors to approve time cards by the end of the day on Saturday December 22nd.

NOTE: Please make sure you check with your supervisor to ensure you meet their deadline, which may be different than the above information.

The deadline for stipend requests, manual time sheets, and any other changes affecting payroll will change to Friday December 21st by 3:00 pm. Anything submitted after that deadline, will not be processed until the January 11, 2013.

If you have any questions, please contact Theresa Gade at ext. 1052 or Mark Cotton at ext. 1030.

Considering Google Apps for Augsburg

After several months of weighing options, the IT Advisory Group is considering a recommendation that Augsburg transition to using the Gmail/Google Apps platform for email, calendaring, and network/file storage. The committee invites faculty, staff and students to any of several upcoming brown bag sessions to learn about this powerful framework for collaboration and to provide feedback on the idea of transitioning.

Please join us with your lunch in East Commons on

Wednesday, December 19 from 12 noon - 1 p.m.

(If you can't attend, please note that a few more sessions will be scheduled in January.)

There will be a brief presentation on what the Google Apps platform provides the campus and time for questions and answers. A comprehensive and growing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) list is available on the IT Website at http://inside.augsburg.edu/it
