Art Reception Tonight: Gage Gallery 6-8 p.m.

Ringside at the Circle Of Discipline by Becky Olstad

Reception: Thursday, August 9, 6-8 p.m.
Gage Family Art Gallery, Oren Gateway Center

What started as taking snapshots for fighters developed into an examination of relationships and interactions in a space where sanctioned and regulated conflict occurs. Becky Olstad's photographic exhibition documents the community of the Circle of Discipline (COD), a boxing center located on Lake Street in Minneapolis. COD fosters the development of high-risk youth and young adults by nurturing their emotional, physical and mental health primarily through the sport of boxing.

This exhibition is made possible by a grant from OverExposure with funds appropriated by the McKnight Foundation. OverExposure is a nonprofit organization that creates documentary photography projects that engage the community.
