Another Successful Auggie Night at the Races Event

Last Friday, nearly 700 Augsburg alumni and friends attended the 7th Annual Auggie Night at the Races event hosted by Curt Sampson, Canterbury's owner and a former member of the Augsburg Board of Regents. This year the popular event had a new Augsburg component. Guests were asked to donate needed supplies for the Augsburg Central Nursing Center, a free health clinic for the homeless at Central Lutheran Church in downtown Minneapolis that the Augsburg Nursing Program has operated for nearly 20 years. In true Auggie fashion, our alumni in attendance donated hundreds of supplies to support the work of the center.

Even if you did not make it out to the track, you can still make a donation to the Central Nursing Center by dropping off items directly at Central Lutheran Church or to the Nursing Department on campus. For more information on how you can support the work of our nursing students, please contact Katie Welle, instructor and coordinator of the Augsburg Nursing Center at wellek@augsburg.edu.

There are many more opportunities coming up to engage with fellow Auggies including the Beer Brewing 101 event featuring physics professor Benjamin Stottrup, PhD on Saturday, September 17 at 2 p.m. at the Great Water Brewing Co. in St Paul, Stargazing and Minnesota Starwatch Class with WCCO meteorologist Mike Lynch and astronomy professor Mark Bransford, PhD on Saturday, October 8 at 7 p.m. at the Quarry Hill Nature Center in Rochester, Homecoming 2011 October 16-22, and much more!
