LSAT Test Prep Registration Now Open

If you are interested in Law School, please join the Office of Undergraduate Research and Graduate Opportunity for an LSAT prep course this Spring. Our course instructor scored in the top 1% of test-takers and has taught LSAT seminars for 14 years. Most corporate tutors charge $175/Hour! URGO offers this 3-week course for only $150. It’s never too early to take this course, even if you are just thinking about Law School.

The course meets Wednesdays from 6-9 PM for three weeks (May 11, 18 & 25) in Oren Gateway Center 113. The cost is only $150, which includes test prep materials; this is a fraction of the cost when compared to similar classroom GRE prep courses offered by Kaplan or the Princeton Review who charge over $1,000.

Alums and non-Augsburg students are also welcome to register.

Online registration is now open at the following web site: http://www.augsburg.edu/urgo/gre_prep_reg.html

Project Homeless Connect Seeking Volunteers

April 27, 2011

Dear Friends of Project Homeless Connect,

Project Homeless Connect
Monday, May 23, 2011, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Minneapolis Convention Center

You are needed!
Thanks very much if you have already signed up to volunteer. If not, please sign up today. We have not yet reached our goal of 1250 volunteers and we need you to make the difference. You may share this e-mail with anyone who may be interested in volunteering.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Ending homelessness, one person at a time.
Project Homeless Connect is a one-stop shop for delivering services to people experiencing homelessness. Hennepin County and the City of Minneapolis are partnering with service providers, businesses, citizens, and faith communities to bring multiple resources to one location where people can come to find the services they need. These services include:
housing providers, employment specialists, medical care, mental health care, benefits specialists, eye care, haircuts, transportation assistance, food and clothing.
1250 volunteers needed for Monday, May 23
I am writing today to ask you to help at the May 23 event. The Convention Center space will be set up with many tables, rooms, and areas for the various services available and volunteers will assist the guests in connecting with the assistance they need or request. With about 2000 participants expected for this event, at least 1250 volunteers are needed to make the day successful. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Volunteer Shifts and Training
The May event will start at 10 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. with two shifts for volunteers: (1) 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and (2) 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All volunteers are asked to arrive by 9:00 a.m.

A 90 minute fun and informative training for Project Homeless Connect is required for everyone except those who trained and volunteered for a previous event. At this training, Cathy ten Broeke, the project director, will orient the volunteers and answer questions about the event. While volunteers at previous Homeless Connects do not need to attend training each time, we strongly recommend attendance at the training sessions. Lots has changed in this event over the years, and we want to make sure that the guests and volunteers have as meaningful and productive a day as possible.

Training sessions are scheduled for:

Saturday, May 7, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Ridgedale Public Library
12601 Ridgedale Dr,
Minnetonka, MN 55305

Tuesday, May 10, 12 noon - 1:00 p.m. for downtown workers
Faegre & Benson LLP
2200 Wells Fargo Center
90 South Seventh Street
Minneapolis, MN 55402-3901

Tuesday, May 10, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
First Universalist Church
3400 Dupont Ave S
Minneapolis, MN 55408

Thursday, May 12, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Southdale Public Library
7001 York Avenue South
Edina, MN 55435

Saturday, May 14, 10:30 - 12:00 noon
St Mary's Greek Orthodox Church
3450 Irving Ave S
Minneapolis, MN 55408

Tuesday, May 17, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Brookdale Public Library
6125 Shingle Creek Parkway
Brooklyn Center MN 55430

Please choose only one training session.

Sign up to volunteer
To volunteer for May 23, please click here or go the web site www. homelessconnectminneapolis.org. Click on the bar in the heading that says, "Please join us as a volunteer." That will take you directly to a new and improved volunteer registration page. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Please share our e-mail with anyone interested in helping us reach our goal of 1250 volunteers!

You WILL NOT receive a confirmation email, so please make note of the date and location of your training as well as the volunteer shift for which you registered. You will receive an email in early May with a reminder of the training dates/times.
To make a donation to Project Homeless Connect
Email us at: projectconnectmpls@gmail.com or visit our web site to donate securely online through Network for Good. The only donations being accepted for the May 23 Homeless Connect are cash contributions. Neither clothing nor any other goods will be accepted for the May 23 Homeless Connect

Donor Scavenger Hunt: Gage Family!

Congratulations to Evan Decker '12 who correctly guessed the Gage Family as the featured donors in the Donor Scavenger Hunt contest! He won a $100 VISA giftcard for his efforts!

The Gage family has supported Augsburg for many years with programs like CLASS, the Lindell Library, and the Gage Family art gallery. Most recently they made a $900,000 capital gift to create the Gage Center for Student Success. This gift will make it possible to realize the College's longstanding vision for an integrated approach to helping all students achieve academic success.
We are deeply grateful to the Gage family for their continuing commitment to the establishment of this Center in support of Augsburg's students.
