Volunteer Judges Needed: ISD196 Inventor's Fair

Each year District 196 hosts an Inventors Fair for 4th and 5th grade students. We need many volunteers to carry off this event but our greatest need is judges. We need 1 judge for every 3 inventions and typically we have between 370-430 inventions. The District 196 Inventors Fair is Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 8:30 am -12:00 pm at Eagan High School. We are asking judges to attend one of two training sessions prior to the 8:30 am start. If this is your first judging experience, we would like you to be at Dakota Hills Middle School on that Saturday for training at 7:30 am. One of the GT coordinators will go through the judging process with you and answer any questions you may have. If you have previous judging experience, your training session will begin at 7:45 am. Experienced judges will have a brief review and update of new policies. The coffee, juice, and rolls will be ready at 7:00 a.m. for those that like to arrive early! If you are interested please contact Ronald Boyd at ronald.boyd@district196.org by Jan. 12th!

WANTED: Int'l Student Welcome Dinner Hosts -Jan 14

We are in need of 4-5 hosts to provide welcome dinners for some of the incoming international students (Norway, Finland, Germany, France, Yemen, Madagascar and Uganda).

Hosts would pick up their students in the Urness/Mort lobby between 5:00-5:30pm on Friday, January 14th, and return them to campus any time after dinner. You may join forces with another faculty/staff member if you wish. We generally send 3-6 students per host; just let us know how many you would like to have.

The only task is to provide a meal and welcoming space in a home environment. If you're interested, drop a note to porter@augsburg.edu or call x.1686. This is always a highlight for both students and faculty/staff!

Help Keep CKP Going - Have 30 Minutes Today?

The Campus Kitchen Project is trying to maintain the nearly 2,000 meals we serve every month through the winter break. With no students, we can use a bit of 'professional' help to make it happen. Grab a friend on campus and sign up for a shift by looking at our calendar - www.tinyurl.com/ckpcalendar or if you can either today (preferably, Wednesday) or tomorrow before 3-6, I could use 1-3 people to share 30-60 minutes of their time to repackage meals. Please call me at 612-701-8346 if you're interested. Thanks!
