Teaching and Learning

SSII Grades Are Due Friday, Aug. 15

SSII and SSIII grades are due Friday, Aug. 15.

SS Online grades are due Monday, Sept. 8.

Grading information can be found through the following link:
http://www.augsburg.edu/enroll/registrar/faculty/index.html
click on Faculty Information, then click on Grade Entry Guidelines.

Timely grade submission is important to our students. Most of our WEC and Grad students are on company reimbursement and work under time lines for submitting their tuition claim (which requires a grade for the course). Many of our Day students are dependent on scholarships which require graded coursework for continuance or for application for new monies. Thank you for your efforts to support our students.

Green Fact of the Day

If every household in the United States replaced just one package of virgin fiber napkins with 100% recycled ones, we could save 1 million trees.

Volunteer Lull in Campus Kitchen -- Please Join US

With summer programs wrapping up (thanks TRIO and AASK for your help!) and students not quite back on campus, the Campus Kitchen Project needs assistance to cover shifts (especially cooking and Sunday shifts) into September. Please join us for a evening or two (you can even get paid with your 16 hours of community service)! Check out our new volunteer calendar here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pnEnj5_k0ileAHqYy1-a6PA&hl=en and let me know if any opportunities work for you.

Besides preparing and delivering meals, we're constructing a hoop style, smaller greenhouse near the garden to produce veggies into the winter. If you have any or no carpentry skills and would like to help, we'll be working on it every afternoon next week. Let me know if you can come. Thanks in advance! campuskitchen@augsburg.edu

Tim Dougherty Finally Leaves -- Celebrate Tuesday

After three fine years of being part of the Augsburg community, first as the Campus Kitchen coordinator and then as the Community and Civic Engagement coordinator, Tim Dougherty will be leaving on August 13. From here he'll be crossing Riverside Ave to enter the Rhetoric and Scientific and Technical Communication graduate program at the University of Minnesota.

Those who know him know what a fortune this is for the University (and a bit of a bummer for Augsburg). To name a few things he's done here: he brought the Campus Kitchen to where it is today; started the Pedalers for Peace spring break bicycle trip to New Orleans; was integral in planning for Focus the Nation; and led the creation of the gorgeous new community garden on the corner of campus.

To say goodbye, we'll be hosting a happy hour at Acadia Cafe (www.acadiacafe.com) at the corner of Riverside and Cedar next Tuesday August 12 from 5 p.m. til whenever. Please join us, enjoy this great new establishment in the neighborhood, and send Tim back to school in good style.
