Subject: More Auggies at the Fringe!
Submitter:
Vicki Keck, Lead, Copy Center Specialist, Central Support Services

Message: I'm sure there are plenty of Auggie connections at the Minnesota Fringe Theater Festival running August 2 - 12 , but here are 3 that I know of.

* Augsburg Copy Queen Vicki Keck hosts Peace Porridge - Stories From around the Globe, Presented by Northstar Storytelling League
Take a fresh look at a timeless topic! Local storytellers bring folktale wisdom to life through a playful exploration of the color, music, love and courage within us all. Playing at Interact Theater

* Sociology professor Lars Christiansen appears in Audiographic Synesthesia Presented by Sweet Science
The profound narrative and visual wit of Lueben's modern day silent films are paired with Sweet Science's searing and sublime accompaniment. The films are reconfigured each night to make every performance unique. Playing at Intermedia Arts

Jonah Hale, son of Religion Professor Lori Hale, appears in Helen of Boyd
Presented by Ole Olson Onstage
Saint or siren? Inspiration or prankster? Helen of Boyd launched not ships but music-lovers. These memories conjure prairie grass from piano lessons, fjord-crossings from organ voluntaries, and Good Time Days from frolicking bachelor farmers. Appearing at Theatre de la Jeune Lune

Subject: A Message to the Augsburg Community
Submitter:
Paul C Pribbenow, President, Office of the President

Message: The tragic event that took place yesterday with the collapse of the I-35W Mississippi River Bridge serves as a grim reminder of the fragility of life. Abigail and I wish to extend our thoughts and prayers to all who were touched by this tragedy. This morning we asked each department to check-in with their staff to see if everyone is personally okay and to learn if any families have been involved. Our residence life staff continued the work it began last night – going door-to-door to check on students. I am saddened to report that we have learned that the mother of an incoming first-year student is listed as missing as a result of this tragedy. We will provide you with updated information when we know more. Please keep her family, as well as the friends and families of the other victims, in your thoughts as they cope with their losses.

The campus has counseling services available for those affected by this tragedy. Beth Carlson with Counseling and Health Promotion is available today and she can be reached at 612-330-1136.

I would like to extend my thanks to John Pack, Director of Public Safety, and his team for coordinating efforts on campus last evening as families and friends contacted dispatch concerned about their loved ones. Thanks also to Amanda Erdman, Director of Residence Life, and her team for their prompt and efficient response to yesterday’s events.

Let us continue to watch for ways we can be of service to our community; perhaps, even in the midst of this tragedy.
