Subject: Talk on Cycling and Public Transit Tues. Night
Submitter:
Nancy Fischer, Assistant Professor, Sociology

Message: Cartoonist and Alternative Transportation Advocate Andy Singer will be giving a talk on the culture of auto dependency and alternatives to it at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26 in Old Main 13.

Andy Singer is the creator of the cartoon series No Exit (see http://www.andysinger.com/ for a sample) and has written six comic books on the political world of transportation.

Andy Singer's talk will be preceded by a 52-minute film Taken For a Ride, a documentary on the history of the dismantling of streetcar mass transit in U.S. cities. The Augsburg Community is welcome to join us for the film as well. The film will begin at 6:05 in Old Main 13.

The talk and film are part of the class Community and Metropolis. On this night, I would like to open the class to the Augburg Community so that everyone has the opportunity to hear Andy Singer and see the film.

Have questions? Contact Nancy Fischer at fischern@augsburg.edu or x1095.

Subject: Cedar-Riverside/Augsburg Pottery Cooperative
Submitter:
Robert K. Tom, Associate Professor, Art

Message: Please join the Cedar-Riverside/Augsburg College Pottery Cooperative as we continue our collaborative effort towards a ceramic bas-relief mural. Our communities will come together in Old Main 1 (ceramic studio) to work on making ceramic press molds. Please bring a hard (not soft materials) small object (not bigger than your closed fist) that has significant meaning for you and we will make a press mold of the object for inclusion in the mural. The schedule is set for 10:30 a.m. until noon on Monday June 25, and Monday July 2, 9 & 16.

Come and meet the Cedar-Riverside children from our community as we find commonalities through our interaction.

She will be on campus each day from June 25-29 in the Christensen Center lobby. She has a very brief survey, which she hopes many of us will complete.
