Submitter:
Theresa L Martin, Administrative Assistant, Center for Teaching and Learning

Message: From WAC to WID: Supporting Effective Student Writing

Please join us May 23rd from 1:30-5:00 in Lindell 301 for an experiential workshop on writing in the disciplines. This workshop is designed for faculty from across the college to help us teach in ways that result in stronger writing skills in our students, whatever the major. Building on the work of the AugCore Writing Collaborative and refreshing our understanding of the foundations in first year writing courses in the English Department, participants will actively consider and apply ideas about important traits in writing. We then will investigate ways to design assignments in various genres (e.g. lab reports, essays, theater reviews, term papers) that are more likely to produce the quality we expect in our students’ work. All faculty are invited and we especially welcome our adjunct colleagues. Please also join us for lunch in the Minneapolis Room prior to the workshop if you are able. Gift cards will be included. RSVP to Martin@augsburg.edu by May 21st.
